Design Toolbox

The Design Toolbox is part of the Library Explorer, where sequence elements can be stored.

Sequence elements are organized within folders.
- The toolbox is pre-loaded with a set of elements.
New folders can be created by selecting “add new folder / group” from the “Add” button at the bottom of the Library Explorer.
A folder may be moved within the toolbox by selecting the icon and dragging it to a new position.

An element may be added to the toolbox by
- dragging the icon of an existing element from the Workspace Pane or the Navigation Pane.
  - dragging the icon of a group from the Workspace Pane or the Navigation Pane will create a folder within the toolbox.
- selecting “add new element” from the “Add” button at the bottom of the Library Explorer.
- copying an existing element in the toolbox
  - by right clicking on the icon and selecting “copy element”
  - by dragging the icon of the element to a new position in the toolbox while holding down the ctrl key
An element may be deleted from the toolbox by selecting it and clicking on the “delete” button at the bottom of the Library Explorer.
An element may be edited within the toolbox by
- selecting it and clicking on the “edit” button at the bottom of the Library Explorer.
- double clicking on it.

Preloaded sequence elements may be updated from time to time with new versions of GeneDesigner. They therefore differ from user-added sequence elements in the following ways:

Moving a pre-loaded element or folder of elements will automatically create a copy of the element / folder.
- When sequences are updated, only the elements / folders in their original locations will be updated.
