The Vectors list is part of the Library Explorer, where vectors can be stored.

Organization

  • Vectors are organized within folders.
    • The list is pre-loaded with a set of vectors.
  • New folders can be created by selecting “add new folder / group” from the “Add” button at the bottom of the Library Explorer.
    • If another folder is selected, the new folder will be added within it.
  • A folder may be moved within the list by selecting the icon and dragging it to a new position.

Adding, removing and editing vectors

  • A vector may be added to the Vectors list by
    • dragging the icon of an existing vector from the Workspace Pane or the Navigation Pane.
    • dragging a fasta file for a vector from elsewhere on your computer.
    • dragging a genbank file for a vector from elsewhere on your computer.
  • A vector may be deleted from the list by selecting it and clicking on the “delete” button at the bottom of the Library Explorer.
  • A vector name and notes may be edited by
    • selecting it and clicking on the “edit” button at the bottom of the Library Explorer.
    • double clicking on it.
  • A vector sequence can only be edited by dragging it into the Construct Editor, and editing in that window.

Preloaded vectors are different

  • Preloaded vectors may be updated from time to time with new versions of GeneDesigner. They therefore differ from user-added vectors in the following ways:
Moving pre-loaded vectors
  • Moving a pre-loaded vector or folder of vectors will automatically create a copy of the vector / folder.
    • When sequences are updated, only the vectors / folders in their original locations will be updated.
Editing pre-loaded vectors
  • Pre-loaded vectors or folders of elements must be copied before editing.
Deleting pre-loaded vectors
  • Pre-loaded vectors or folders of elements cannot be deleted.
